Therapy in the Pause

It’s time to talk about menopause, cut the crap and own it. Conversation is connection.

Tell Me More

Welcome to the menopause space where you’ll never be told “it will pass” or “it’s all in your head”.

This shit is real, and it is time for you to get the answers you need to get back on track for your second half.

This is your space for real, grounded, unapologetic support with:

  • Emotional swings and irritability

  • Brain fog and overwhelm

  • Anxiety, grief, identity changes

  • Relationship shifts

You’ve earned your “zero f*&%s given” mindset. I’m here to help you live it out loud.

Let's Do This

I’m Alison. I am a woman of a certain age and a psychotherapist who is juggling all of the things you are: a family, marriage, career, aging parents, and, trying to carve out time for myself. Before menopause hit, I thought I had it (kind of) figured out…but then I didn’t.

I woke up one day feeling (sweaty) tired, overwhelmed and irritable. I knew this wasn’t the way I wanted to be, but I struggled to find somebody who didn’t dismiss my symptoms and my feelings while I continued to suffer. Eventually, I decided not to let practitioners who learned about menopause in a textbook into my space. Supporting women through this unique stage of life requires more than knowledge. The empathy and understanding that can only come from enduring it is what really makes the difference.

The challenge of finding truly gifted practioners inspired me to learn more about how I could translate my skills as a psychotherapist to better support women. Time and again I heard from professionals who said their training did not prepare them to support women in menopause. It was not until they experienced the challenges themselves that they really “got it”. It reinforced to me that women need to take charge of the narrative around women’s menopause health.

Therapy works.

  • Therapy In The Pause

You are tied of trying to figure out what the hell is going on. You’re irritable, then teary, lonely, then lost in a crowd. Menopause is wreaking havoc with your life and you’re ready for it to stop. Therapy will give you the place to talk about it. Together, we will help you unpack your stuff, learn tools for coping, gain clarity on what you really want, and just feel like you’ve found someone who gets you (because I really do!). Let’s work together to give you the tools to manage the symptoms, and explore the past, present and most importantly, the future you want to live for your second half. You’re no longer lost: you’ve found yourself!

  • The Pause Project

You were prepared for the hot flashes and brain fog, but the emotions? Not so much. Nobody talks about the menopause moods, their intensity and the unpredictability that can rob you your quality of life. The Pause Project is where you will finally feel understood. You will connect with other women who are trying to make sense of the emotional waves, the changes in relationships and who just want relief and to feel understood. Nobody gets menopause like women in menopause. The Pause Project harnesses the wisdom, the power and the will of chicks who have had it with menopause, and who are committed to working together to feel better.
